Cape Town · Garden Route · West Coast · Ballito

A two-bedroom cottage in the Bo-Kaap, looking straight at Table Mountain. $147,044.

A real house, on the market today, high on the Schotschekloof slope: the mountain out the front window, the City Bowl below, salt air off the bay. South Africa has one of the most beautiful coastlines on earth and an average house price of about $119,000, and almost nobody outside the country has noticed. We find the beautiful ones, price them in dollars, and send them to you.

These are public listings, and we are not pretending otherwise. Anyone claiming to hide an address from you is selling something they cannot deliver. Sources: every home above is a live listing on Property24, verified 2026-07-12 and shown with its P24 reference and its own listing photography. Dollar prices convert at European Central Bank reference rate, via frankfurter.dev, 2026-07-10 ($1 = R16.3217) and will drift with the rand. A listing that goes under offer or sells is pulled within 24 hours.

The record

We show our working.

Nothing here asks you to take our word for it. Every dollar figure is arithmetic you can redo, every home carries the reference that finds the original, and no money changes hands between us and any agent.

What $9 a month actually buys

Curation, earliness and alerts. Not a padlock on an address.

We thought hard about charging you to reveal where each house is. Then we admitted the obvious: the listings are public, a reverse image search breaks the lock in half a minute, and the first subscriber to paste a link in a Facebook group would end the whole business. So we sell the only things that are actually ours to sell.

01

You see it first

Members get every find 48 hours before it reaches the public feed. On a repossession or a mispriced coastal house, 48 hours is the whole game, and it is a promise we can actually keep, unlike hiding an address.

02

The whole firehose, and the archive

About twenty hand-picked homes a week, plus every home we have ever run, searchable. The daily spotlight on Instagram is the trailer; this is the film.

03

Filters and instant alerts

“A beach house under $200,000 in the Overberg: email me the moment one appears.” Set it once. The filters on the feed above are exactly this, working.

04

The Foreign Buyer's Playbook

Transfer duty, non-resident bond rules, exchange control, conveyancing, what a foreigner may and may not own. Everything nobody tells you until you are already committed.

The pledge

We have never taken a rand from an estate agent, and we never will.

No referral fees. No listing fees. No sponsored slots, no “featured property”, no developer money. Not because we are saintly, but because South Africa's Property Practitioners Act 22 of 2019 makes it a criminal offence for anyone without a Fidelity Fund Certificate to be paid in respect of a property transaction (s48(1), s56(1); penalties to ten years under s71).

We are a publication, not a broker. We hold no mandate, we route no leads, we negotiate nothing and we touch none of your money. Every cent we make comes from readers. Which means the only reason a house is on this page is that we think it is worth your time, and there is no amount an agent could pay us to change that.

When you click through, you go straight to the agency's own listing. We get nothing from it. That is the point.

How a house gets on the page

Five rules. All five, or it does not run.

Real
Currently listed, verified live on the day it runs, and pulled within 24 hours if it sells. Every home carries its portal reference so you can audit us.
Under $250,000
The hero band, with at least two a week under $150,000. The national average South African home is about R1.95m, roughly $119,000. That number is the entire product.
Priced against its own suburb
It has to be a genuine outlier, meaningfully under what its neighbours fetch per square metre, or a bank repossession, deceased estate or auction lot.
It needs a story
“1902 Karoo farmhouse, $87,000.” “Bank repo in Zimbali, $76,000.” No story, no slot. A house without a sentence is just a spreadsheet row.
Credited, always
The agency that listed it gets named and linked on every card, and its photographs run with its credit on them. One email takes any of it down within 24 hours.

For estate agents

Send us your listing. We will send you foreign buyers, and we will not invoice you.

We cannot pay you and you cannot pay us. That is the law, and we like it. What we can do is put your listing in front of readers in New York, London and Berlin who had no idea a house like yours existed, and link them straight to you. Your home runs with your own photographs, credited to you on the image, and with your agency named and linked on the card.

The awkward questions.

No, and we want to be blunt about it, because a competitor will eventually promise you exactly that. These are public listings on public portals. If you took any photo on this page and dropped it into a reverse image search, you would have the address in about thirty seconds. Anyone selling you “pay to see where it is” is selling a lock with no door behind it. What we ask you to pay for is the work: finding roughly twenty homes worth your attention out of many thousands, ranking them, and getting them to you 48 hours before anyone else. On this page, your email opens the suburb, the agency and the direct link on all nine, because the point was never to hide them.
